Roswell’s creative spirit is thriving, and artist Emily Harrison-Ach, founder of Ghost Barn, brings a whimsical and imaginative voice to the community. Known for making what she lovingly describes as “art for mice,” Emily creates fine art that is humorous, nature-inspired, and full of storytelling charm.

Inspired by Connection, Creativity, and Community
Emily began her artistic journey by opening an Etsy shop and bringing her work to markets. What started as a way to connect with other artists quickly became a meaningful creative path. Sharing her art online helped her meet makers from around the world, many of whom have become lasting friends and sources of inspiration.
Emily shared that these friendships remain one of the most rewarding parts of her journey. Even nearly a decade later, the support, camaraderie, and creative dialogue she has built with fellow artists continue to shape her work and strengthen her passion.
Art That Makes You Laugh, Look Closer, and Ask Questions
Emily describes Ghost Barn in one sentence: “Ghost Barn makes people laugh and ask questions.”
Her imaginative pieces blend her love of nature, her experiences living in New York, Florida, and Georgia, and her fascination with the tiny details of the world. She enjoys studying her surroundings closely, allowing each landscape to influence her creative process. Her goal is to encourage others to explore the natural world and feel inspired to protect it.
Emily works across multiple mediums, including prints, pottery, hand-built objects, embroidery, and more. Recently, she has been especially proud of her hand embroidery, which showcases intricate detail and a level of craftsmanship that reminds people how much beauty can be created with time, attention, and skill.

A Journey of Persistence, Curiosity, and Growth
Like many artists, Emily has faced her share of challenges. She shared that her biggest obstacle has been self-doubt, which can lead to creative blocks that feel both personally and professionally discouraging. Despite those moments, she continues to push forward and explore new mediums, recently diving into glass fusing and woodworking.
Her ability to grow, evolve, and stay curious keeps her work fresh and full of heart.
Women Supporting Women
Emily has felt deeply supported by fellow women business owners throughout her journey. She wrote that the shared philosophy of “community, not competition” has made a powerful difference. Many of her closest relationships have formed with artists working in similar mediums or sharing common themes.
Co-marketing, collaboration, and learning from one another have strengthened her work and expanded her reach. For Emily, these relationships are a reminder of what is possible when women come together and lift each other up.

Rooted in Roswell’s Artistic Landscape
Emily loves how the arts are woven into Roswell’s identity. “I love how prevalent the arts are in Roswell,” she wrote. “The Roswell Visual Arts Center and Art Center West are havens for people who love working with their hands.”
She is currently helping to form the Roswell Makers Market taking place on December 6, an event designed to highlight local artists and a wide variety of handmade mediums. The goal is to help residents appreciate the power of creativity, support local artisans, and invest back into the community.

Joyful, Playful, and Wonderfully Whimsical
At the heart of Ghost Barn is joy. Emily hopes her art will bring people happiness, spark imagination, and inspire them to try new creative experiences. Whether someone is drawn to her prints, her pottery, her embroidered pieces, or the many other mediums she continues to explore, her work invites people to pause, smile, and look more closely at the world.
Her pieces reflect the belief that creativity is meant to be shared, explored, and enjoyed. And through Ghost Barn, Emily continues to add a unique, playful touch to Roswell’s vibrant artistic community.
